New Leaf

New LeafThe dust has settled, rather is settling, into gentle patterns of motherhood and I am turning to tasks that lie beyond the ever-present hamper of dirty diapers begging to be laundered and the seemingly endless dishes by the sink. This winter has been beautifully hermitic for me and our daughter, Amber Jean, but now I feel the push to reach out into the world a bit more, even if only from my desk chair….so I’m turning over a new leaf and reviving and revamping this blog to catch these thoughts and experiments.

In this new phase of motherhood, I am simultaneously very busy with keeping all the proverbial plates in the air, but at the same time I seem to have more time to think than I ever have before during our many nursing sessions, daily walks and chores at home. This blog is now a place where I can capture some of those thoughts, experiences and interests.

Turning-Over-a-New-Leaf-Mind-Map

I have renamed this blog “Off-Grid Arts” for several reasons: 1) I wanted to bring some cohesiveness and focus to its contents; 2) we live an off-grid life style and I plan to share some of those experiences here; 3) I strive to bring an off-grid edge to my arts practice; and 4) since becoming a mother, I’ve felt an even stronger motivation to delve into “Radical Homemaking”, which also fits into the off-grid category. So, in a nutshell, that’s the story behind the current incarnation of this blog. In case you can’t tell, I’m having fun with it and it will only get better….I hope you’ll join me on this new little journey. I’d love to hear what you’re thinking, plotting and doing these days!
